Delivery driver injured in Standish rollover crash

The 53-year-old New Hampshire man was operating as a delivery driver for Dunkin' at the time of the crash, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said.

STANDISH, Maine — A New Hampshire man who was operating as a Dunkin' delivery driver was brought to the hospital following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Standish early Sunday morning.

Just after 3:30 a.m., the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of 970 Chadbourne Rd. for a rollover crash involving a box truck, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

An initial investigation revealed the box truck, a 2021 Chevrolet 4500, was headed northbound when it left the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. The truck reportedly came to a stop in the northbound lane near Whites Bridges Road.

The sheriff's office identified the driver of the vehicle as a 53-year-old man from Milford, New Hampshire who was operating as a delivery driver for Dunkin' and making food deliveries at a nearby store at the time of the crash.

The driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, resulting in the crash.

Members of the Standish Fire Department extricated the driver from the vehicle, and he was brought to Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening, the sheriff's office said in the release.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the incident, the sheriff's office said.

Traffic on Chadbourne Road was affected for several hours by the crash.
