Logging truck rolls over on Route 2 in Dixfield, blocks traffic for hours

The Dixfield and Peru fire departments responded to the scene.

DIXFIELD, Maine — Traffic on Route 2 in Dixfield was blocked for several hours on Thursday after a fully-loaded logging truck rolled over.

According to a news release from the Oxford County Sheriff's Office, a fully-loaded logging tractor trailer out of Milan, New Hampshire rolled over on Route 2 in Dixfield at approximately 1 p.m. The truck's entire load of logs was reportedly thrown from the trailer during the incident.

An investigation revealed the 57-year-old driver from Milan, New Hampshire "was fatigued, resulting in the roll-over," the sheriff's office said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no injuries were reported.

Officials urged drivers in Dixfield to use caution due to the crash. The Dixfield and Peru fire departments responded to the scene, according to a 1:30 p.m. social media post by the Peru Fire Department. The sheriff's office said deputies were assisted by Mexico and Peru emergency responders, and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
