Pedestrian seriously injured in Lewiston crash

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Lewiston police.

LEWISTON, Maine — A pedestrian was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with serious injuries Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle in Lewiston.

Margaret "Peggy" Pooler, 57, was in serious condition at the hospital as of Wednesday, Lewiston police said in a release Thursday.

The crash happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Sabattus Street and College Street. When officials arrived at the scene, they found Pooler injured in the roadway, according to the release.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Pooler remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The intersection was closed for a period of time but has since reopened, according to police.
