Police identify man found dead in Androscoggin River

Police said there were no injuries identified that indicate foul play.

LISBON, Maine — Editor's note: The video above was published April 3, 2024. 

Police have released the identity of a man found dead in the Androscoggin River in Lisbon Falls on Wednesday. 

The Lisbon Police Department said Monday 34-year-old Leo Copp Jr. of Lewiston was identified as the deceased. Police did not state the cause or manner of his death. 

"There were no injuries identified which would indicate that foul play is suspected at this time," police said.

On Wednesday, police responded to the area of the Eagle Creek Renewable Enery Dam located at 31 Canal St. in Lisbon Falls where Copp's body had been discovered in the Androscoggin River, according to a news release. 

His body was brought to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
