CHELSEA, Maine — Business owners are working to recover after several structures burned in Chelsea Sunday afternoon.

The Chelsea Fire Department told NEWS CENTER Maine their crews and 10 other area departments responded to a fire located at New England Rent to Own at 65 River Road around 1 p.m.

A building and 10 mobile sheds reportedly burned in the fire. There were no employees in the building at the time, and no one was injured, officials said.

Despite the loss, business owners say they plan to keep their 22 employees working.

One building that is without power on the property was salvaged. There are plans to hook up a generator and allow those employees to continue to work this week.

Owners say they do have insurance to cover the losses.

A portion of River Road was closed while crews responded to the fire. The Pittston Fire Department asked drivers to avoid the area and to respect detours. The road reopened around 5 p.m., the fire department said.

Multiple people shared images and videos of the blaze on social media.

Maine State Police Lieutenant Aaron Turcotte told NEWS CENTER Maine the state fire marshal's office is investigating a fire in Chelsea where no injuries were reported.
