Looking for great donuts in Maine? Here are seven places to check out

Food writer Joe Ricchio has recommendations that run the gamut from classic to innovative.

PORTLAND, Maine — For anyone who loves donuts, these are the best of times. Never has Maine had so many places selling such a variety of absolutely first-rate donuts.

Traditionalists will find plenty of bakeries that sell the classics—sugar, glazed, old-fashioned, etc. But the new and innovative offerings might tempt you even more, with toppings that range from Kit Kats to tres leches meringue.

Joe Ricchio, a chef, food writer, and host of the Food Coma podcast and web series dropped by the 207 studio to talk about some of his favorite donut joints in Maine.
