BANGOR, Maine — A 39-year-old Mexican national was sentenced to more than a year in prison for entering the United States after they were removed previously.

Manuel Bonilla Davila, 39, was sentenced on Wednesday at the U.S. District Court in Bangor to 15 months in prison after being arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on April 21 this year, according to a news release from the United States Attorney's Office, District of Maine.

Davila was reportedly found in Aroostook County near the international border.

"Immigration records showed that Bonilla Davila had been previously removed from the U.S. in March 2011 in Brownsville, Texas, and had not obtained the express consent of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to reapply for admission," the news release said.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Border Patrol.
