ROCKLAND, Maine — Police are investigating a robbery that happened at a smoke shop in Rockland Tuesday night.

At about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Rockland police responded to a "smash-and-grab burglary" at the Maine Smoke Shop on Park Street, the police department said in a Facebook post.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene just before police arrived, according to the post.

"Thankfully the alarm, quick response by law enforcement, and the suspect's own lack of coordination limited the loss of product, though a significant amount of damage was done," the post stated.

Police said detectives were called to the scene where they collected physical evidence that will be submitted to the crime lab.

"Officers are working on collecting additional video surveillance at this time," police added.

Police ask anyone who may have information to contact Det. Sgt. Max King at mking@rocklandmaine.gov or 207-594-0316, ext. 231.
