Two men summonsed for alleged home repair fraud in York County

Both men were summonsed but were already in York County Jail, the sheriff's office said.

YORK COUNTY, Maine — Two men have been summonsed for alleged home repair fraud in York County.

The York County Sheriff's Office said it received a complaint of alleged home repair fraud several months ago after a homeowner in Lebanon contacted two men for tree work.

After apparently receiving a $3,000 deposit, 46-year-old Billy Jack Adams from Sanford and 44-year-old Patrick Dorney from Lebanon did not complete the work, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

Sheriff's deputies said they spoke with Adams and Dorney after receiving the complaint.

Several months later, the Lebanon homeowner called the York County Sheriff's Office to resolve the complaint, resulting in both men being summonsed for home repair fraud.

Adams and Dorney were found at the York County Jail on unrelated charges. Adams is awaiting trial for alleged criminal attempt and is being held on $2,000 bail, and Dorney is awaiting trial for a drug charge with $250 bail. Dorney also has a probation hold.
