BANGOR, Maine — It's been two weeks since a Medford man was shot after taking officers on a slow speed chase in the town of Milo.

Douglas Hazen was arraigned from his hospital bed on Monday. He is in critical condition, recovering from his injuries at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Hazen was driving through the town of Milo on Friday, April 26 when a deputy with the Piscataquis County Sheriff's office tried to pull him over. Hazen, who had active arrest warrants, did not stop, and a slow speed chase ensued. Police from the Milo Department joined the pursuit a short time later.

According to the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Department, an armed confrontation took place, and Hazen was shot during that confrontation.

Police have not identified two officers involved, but have said who fired the shots. It's also not clear whether Hazen fired at the officers.

The District Attorney office says Hazen has a history with law enforcement.

"In June of 2015, he had a run-in with the state trooper for which he was arrested for OUI and refusing to submit to arrest," said Chris Almy, Piscataquis County Assistant District Attorney. "During that incident, he made a point of saying to the officer that if he were caught again, or if he got in any further confrontations, that he'd be carrying a gun and he would be using it."

Bail was set at $2,500. Hazen is expected to be release from the hospital in the next few days. If he does not make bail, he will be going to Piscataquis County Jail.
