Police ask public to lock vehicles following reports of car burglaries in Kennebunk

Kennebunk police said each vehicle reportedly targeted was left unlocked.

KENNEBUNK, Maine — Police in Kennebunk are advising the public to lock their cars after several vehicles were reported burglarized and even stolen. 

The Kennebunk Police Department said on Facebook they have taken several reports of vehicle burglaries and one report of a vehicle being stolen in neighborhoods in the York Street area. 

The incidents most likely happened overnight, police said. All vehicles reportedly targeted during the incidents were left unlocked. 

Police are now asking community members to keep their vehicles locked to keep their belongings safe, and advise against leaving money, car keys, or other valuables unattended inside.
