AUBURN, Maine — Auburn police are searching for a man they said pepper-sprayed a driver and then stole their vehicle in the parking lot of the city's Walmart last week.

According to Deputy Police Chief Tim Cougle, a white man with facial hair and dark clothing asked a man for a ride in the parking lot of the Mount Auburn Avenue store the night of Tuesday, March 12. The man then pepper-sprayed and physically assaulted the victim and stole his blue 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer sport utility vehicle, according to Cougle.

The deputy chief said officers are still investigating the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Auburn police at 207-784-6421.
