ORIGINAL STORY

Thank you to all the Mainers who stopped by a Hannaford, Shaw's, or Pratt Abbot this past Saturday, Dec. 2, for NEWS CENTER Maine's Coats and Toys for Kids Day.

With all of your donations in just one day, we collected 1,400 coats, 1,000 toys, 740 mittens/gloves and $2,016.

A big thank you to Maine Savings as well for their sponsorship of Coats and Toys for Kids Day. Maine Savings also made a donation to this campaign with $8,000 - which will help so many more coats and toys to be distributed throughout Maine.

If you couldn't make it out to see NEWS CENTER Maine talent this past weekend to make a donation, don't worry. There's still time.

The collection boxes are still up in all Hannaford and Shaw's stores. You can also make a purchase from The Wish List (see below).

Toys are being accepted through Dec. 15, and coats are being accepted through Dec. 31.

NEWS CENTER Maine proudly partners with the Salvation Army to collect new or gently used coats and new toys every year for Mainers statewide. You can drop your new or gently used coat and/or new toy at any Hannaford or Shaw's across Maine.

Look for the Coats and Toys boxes provided by Pepsi at your stores! Pratt Abbott will be cleaning all the coats, and the Salvation Army will distribute them statewide to help keep Mainers warm and happy this winter.
