More power outages across Maine

More than 10,000 lost power across Maine early Friday afternoon, fresh off outages from last week's nor'easter.

MAINE, USA — Fresh off a nor'easter that knocked out power to more than 375,000 across Maine last week, strong winds knocked out power again across the state Friday.

More than 10,000 lost power in the early afternoon. As of 4:45 p.m., there were 1,343 Versant customers without power without power, most in Hancock and Penobscot counties. As of 4:37 p.m., there were 621 Central Maine Power customers without power.

Winds were strongest in the Midcoast, where a wind advisory was in effect through 4 p.m. Gusts were expected to hit 50 mph and higher.

"Recent winter weather has damaged trees in the area," the National Weather Service said. "Damaged trees, limbs, and branches pose a higher risk of falling onto powerlines or people."
