Plane traveling from London makes emergency landing in Bangor

The incident had no connection to terrorism, according to the FBI.

BANGOR, Maine — One person was detained and arrested after a plane bound for New Jersey from London made an emergency landing in Bangor on Friday.

United Airlines Flight 883 landed safely at Bangor International Airport around 10 a.m. after the crew reported a passenger disturbance, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

The Boeing 767 aircraft departed from Heathrow Airport in London and was traveling to Newark Liberty International Airport, according to the FAA.

Two passengers were removed from the plane, Bangor police said in a release. One person was detained and arrested after consultation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of Maine, according to a release from the FBI.

"This incident has no nexus to terrorism," the FBI's release stated.

Customs and Border Protection and the FBI are handling the investigation, according to Bangor police.
