Head-on crash in West Paris temporarily closes road Saturday morning

The Oxford County Sheriff's Office said two drivers have life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash on Route 26 in West Paris on Saturday morning.

WEST PARIS, Maine — Two people are seriously hurt after a head-on crash on Route 26 in West Paris Saturday morning.

Deputies with the Oxford County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash involving two cars near the area of 52 Bethel Road shortly before 7:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a release from the department. 

An initial investigation revealed Eric Cole, 43, of Norway, crossed the center line and hit the vehicle Heidi Kokkola, 52, of Bryant Pond, was driving. 

They were both taken to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries, the release stated.

Deputies said Route 26 would be closed for a few hours while investigators reconstruct the scene.
