Gorham road reopens after crash knocks out utility lines, forcing traffic closure

Police said line crews would be working diligently to reopen the road but it likely would not reopen until at least dinner time due to downed phone and power lines.

GORHAM, Maine — County Road, also known as Route 22, in Gorham was closed during the day Tuesday between Hodgdon Road and Deering Road because of a motor vehicle crash.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, and one person was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to Gorham police.

Police told NEWS CENTER Maine line crews would be working diligently to reopen the road but that it likely would not reopen until at least dinner time due to the complexity of the downed phone lines and power lines involved.

Drivers were encouraged to seek an alternative route, according to officials.

Emergency officials sent an update around 3:40 p.m. to state that the road had reopened.
