Gov. LePage's official portrait unveiled in Augusta

LePage personally chose Rockport artist Ken Hendrickson to paint the piece, a self-taught artist who has run his own studio for three decades.

AUGUSTA, Maine — The official portrait of Gov. Paul LePage was unveiled Thursday during a ceremony at the Statehouse in Augusta.

The painting depicts Maine's 74th governor inside the Blaine House's study flanked by the bust painting of James G. Blaine, a former Maine House speaker, U.S. senator and namesake of the governor's residence.

Gov. LePage chose Rockport artist Ken Hendrickson to paint the piece. Hendrickson, a native of Limestone, designed the Association of the United States Army Joshua Chamberlain Chapter coin and award plaques.

LePage's portrait will be displayed in the chronological governor's rotation on the Statehouse's third floor and is scheduled to be hung Dec. 27.

The portrait is now a part of the Maine State Museum's collection.
