Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman gets his degree, 14 years later

The Super Bowl MVP went to Kent State University from 2006 to 2009, before being drafted by the Patriots. He went back Saturday to get his diploma.

KENT, Ohio — He's played on football's biggest stage, but on Saturday, Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman shared a stage with 5,300 undergrads at Kent State University.

The Super Bowl MVP earned his Bachelor's of Integrated Studies from his now alma mater. Edelman attended KSU from 2006 to 2009 before being drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round.

Edelman tweeted on May 9, "Completing what I started back in 06. I want to set a great example for my daughter, and complete a promise I made to my parents over 10 years ago. To my fellow Golden Flash graduates, Congratulations!"

Saturday, he posted videos of him celebrating with his fellow graduates as he walked off the stage, high-fiving those still sitting in the folding chairs.

Edelman's teammate, Tom Brady, could not resist a jab at his friend, commenting on his post: "Who ever knew it could take 14 years to graduate college??"
