LOS ANGELES — Television actor Ian Ziering told his followers on Instagram Monday that he had been the victim of an attack by several people riding mini bikes in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve.

TMZ, which originally reported on the incident, obtained video showing the 59-year-old star of Beverly Hills, 90210 in a fistfight with multiple people wearing motorcycle helmets and riding bikes through traffic on Hollywood Blvd. Sunday.

The video begins with Ziering shoving one of the bikers, with others quickly pushing him back and joining in the scuffle. At one point, a biker lands a flying punch to Ziering's face. The fight continues across the road to the sidewalk on the other side of the street, where he is able to break away and run from the conflict.

A report from KTLA, a local Los Angeles TV station, indicates that officers responded to the scene after reports of a fight breaking out and a group of bikers driving recklessly. TMZ reported the brawl may have started when Ziering's vehicle was struck by one of the mini bikes. Citing an official report, TMZ reports that Ziering was listed as a victim in the incident.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Ziering confirmed it was him involved in the fight, and added some details about his side of the story.

"Yesterday, I experienced an alarming incident involving a group of individuals on mini bikes,: he wrote. "While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation. In an attempt to assess any damage I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself."

Ziering reported that both him and his daughter were uninjured after the incident, but said the situation "highlights a larger issue of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior."

Ziering has been a television actor since the early 1980s, best known for appearing as Steve Sanders on the drama series "Beverly Hills, 90210" in the 90s. He also starred as Fin Shepard in the "Sharknado" film series from 2013 to 2018.
