Mainer pulled off biggest sponsorship deal in sports history

Now back in his native Maine, Brian Corcoran has had a storied career in sports marketing. His 750 million dollar deal which matched Nextel with NASCAR turned heads in the advertising world.

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Dapper, pleasant and business-like, Brian Corcoran is an irresistible in the sports marketing world.

The Old Orchard Beach native attended Eastern Kentucky where his interest switched from Sports Medicine to Sports Marketing.

He went on to become Vice President, Team, League & Venue Services for SFX Sports. He went on to work as Managing Director of Corporate Marketing for NASCAR and later Executive Vice President of Fenway Sports Management.

His most remarkable deal was securing a corporate parnership between Nextel and NASCAR. That 750 million dollar deal was the largest in sports history.

As the Fenway sports group changed philosophy, "BC" was able to take a piece of the business and establish Shamrock Sports in Portland's Old Port.

He is married to Melissa Smith, the CEO of WEX. They have three children and live in Falmouth.
