Veterans remember Pearl Harbor with wreath ceremony in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A wreath was dropped from a footbridge into the Kenduskeag River Thursday as veterans and community member came together to commemorate the 76th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

The bridge where the ceremony took place was named after Pfc. Willard Carleton Orr, a Bangor resident who died in Pearl Harbor.

The wreath ceremony followed a 21-gun salute.

"It was a turning point in American history and in the service of our country," said emcee Curtis Slininger, a Navy retiree. "We'd like to recognize all those who have sacrificed and served during that time and kept us as a country today being able to do what we do."
