A man shot by a food truck driver during a confrontation on Dec. 1 has now been charged.
The Sanford Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division executed an arrest warrant on Ashe "Scott" Schaffer, 29, on Monday, Sanford police said in a release Tuesday. Schaffer has been charged with felony criminal threatening and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, the release stated.
At the time of the incident, police said Schaffer was wielding a knife when he approached a food truck parked in the T-Mobile parking lot at the intersection of Main Street and Lebanon Street. A confrontation with the food truck owner ensued and the food truck owner shot Schaffer in the leg, police said.
Sanford police declined to identify the food truck owner or the name of the food truck business. There are no charges currently pending for the food truck owner, police said Tuesday.
Detectives arrested Schaffer at Maine Medical Center after he was done being treated for his gunshot wound, according to police. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
