Two teens seriously hurt in multi-vehicle crash in Liberty

An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old from Montville were flown by a medical helicopter for treatment.

LIBERTY, Maine — Two teenagers were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in the Waldo County town of Liberty.

Blair Fuller-Barnard, 18, of Montville was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry on West Main Street at about 3 p.m. when she turned onto Belfast Augusta Road and failed to yield to a Dodge Ram pickup truck headed west and a tractor-trailer headed east, according to the Waldo County Sheriff's Office.

Fuller-Barnard and her passenger, 19-year-old Donovan Aldus of Montville, were seriously injured and flown by a medical helicopter to a hospital for treatment.

The pickup truck driver, a 58-year-old Freeport man, and the tractor-trailer driver, a 62-year-old Belgrade man, were not hurt.

Traffic in the area was detoured for roughly two hours because of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
