Victim of fatal motorcycle crash in Biddeford identified

The crash occurred Friday evening on the southbound off-ramp of the Maine Turnpike in Biddeford.

BIDDEFORD, Maine — A motorcyclist who died in a crash Friday on the Maine Turnpike in Biddeford has been identified. 

Zachary Swain, 21, of Connecticut was exiting Interstate 95 when he failed to negotiate the curve of the exit 32 southbound off-ramp in Biddeford, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Saturday in a news release. 

Swain was thrown off the motorcycle when he struck a guard rail and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders, according to the release. 

The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m., and the exit was closed for two hours while crews worked to clear the scene. 

The crash is being investigated by Maine State Police, the release stated. 

State police were assisted at the scene by the Biddeford Fire Department, Maine Turnpike Authority, and Ray's Truck Service, according to the release.
