Portland police investigating shots fired in West End

Two people have been questioned, but no arrests have been made, Portland police say.

PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police responded to reports of shots fired on Tate Street in the West End Sunday evening.

Officers arrived at the scene around 6:41 p.m. and found evidence of a firearm being discharged several times in the area, according to a Monday press release from the department.

"Two persons of interest were questioned, but no arrests have been made at this time. The Special Reaction Team (SRT) was activated and a search warrant was served on a residence as a part of the investigation," the release stated.

Police are asking residents in the area to check their cars and homes to see if they have been "struck by gunfire."
