Portland Police announce second arson arrest

Portland Police made an arrest today in connection with the arson fires that happened around Portland in late March.

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Portland Police detectives arrested 18-year-old Aaron Hornbeck-Fielder of Portland and charged him with Arson, a Class A crime. Fielder was taken into custody at the Police Headquarters after an interview on March 31.

Fielder is charged with starting a fire in a dumpster to the rear of 121 Center St. Sunday March 23rd. Fielder is the second suspect charged in a series of arson fires that occurred March 22nd and 23rd. The fires were on Center St, Forest Av, Commercial St, Danforth St. and Congress St.

The Portland Police and Fire Departments continue to investigate. We believe all the fires are connected and additional charges are possible.

The investigation is continuing and anyone that witnessed suspicious activity around dumpsters or trash cans in the listed streets and dates is asked to contact the police department at 874-8533.
