Police issue 'silver alert' for missing Shapleigh man last seen Sunday

SHAPLEIGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Law enforcement officials from the York County Sheriff's Office have issued a "silver alert," asking the public for assistance in locating a 76-year-old man from Shapleigh last seen Sunday morning.

Police say Jerome Fecteau suffers from dementia and was last seen leaving his residence in Shapleigh at 5:45 a.m. Sunday in his 2011 gray Ford 4-door Focus. The vehicle has Maine plates with registration identifier '7351-NV'.

According to the sheriff's office, Fecteau is a 6-foot tall white male weighing 130 pounds, last reported by a witness wearing a tan jacket a tan winter hat.

They say he used to live in Waterville and has been talking a lot about the area recently.

Fecteau did not take his cell phone with him.

Police urge anyone to contact local authorities if Fecteau is spotted. The number for the York County Sheriff's Office is (207) 324-1113.
