Parting is such sweet sorrow, saying goodbye to Katie Bavoso

Katie started reporting at WLBZ in Bangor as a recent grad from Rowan University in 2013, and for the last three years has been getting little sleep reporting and anchoring for the Morning Report at WCSH in Portland.

(NEWS CENTER Maine) — For the last five years, Katie Bavoso has been bringing Mainers news from around the state.

Katie started reporting at WLBZ 2 in Bangor in January of 2014 as a recent grad from Rowan University, class of 2013. For the last three years, she has been getting little sleep reporting and anchoring for the Morning Report at WCSH 6 in Portland.

The New Jersey native has loved her time in Maine as she has trekked all over the state from Fort Kent to Acadia and Baxter, down to York, soaking in Moxie and learning how to better use the word wicked.

Bavoso delighted Mainers with her chilling series of stories unearthing the state's oddities and unexplained phenomena called Maine Mysteries.

Known as a multimedia journalist, Katie was honored with a regional Emmy nomination as a videojournalist for her work on "Bowling for 90's: Age is just a number." Like most others, this was a piece Katie enterprised, shot, edited, and wrote herself.

And Katie has helped find hundreds of homes for four-legged creatures through Fetch ME home.

Katie is moving to Massachusetts to be closer to loved ones and family.

Everyone at NEWS CENTER Maine will sorely miss her talent and energy but even more her smiling face and friendship. Best of luck to you Katie in all your future endeavors from your NEWS CENTER Maine family.
