Foundation Brewing Company launches beer to benefit animal shelter and rescue organizations

The hazy IPA features notes of tropical fruit and mandarin orange, and a portion of proceeds will go toward animal welfare and rescue groups.

PORTLAND, Maine — Foundation Brewing Company launched a new beer with the intent to help out furry friends in Maine and beyond.

The Portland-based brewery plans to donate a portion of sales from its new beer, called "Fetch," to animal welfare and rescue organizations.

Fetch officially launched Saturday at an event hosted by the brewery in partnership with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. The hazy IPA features notes of tropical fruit and mandarin orange.

One percent of sales of Fetch at the brewery's tasting room and from in-store purchases would be donated to local animal shelter and rescue organizations around Maine and in other states.

John Bonney, founder and co-owner of the brewery, said proceeds from the first-quarter sales of Fetch will be donated to ARLGP in support of a previous charitable relationship.

"It just felt natural to take the relationship that we always had with the animal refuge league and sort of make it more official, if you will," Bonney said. "If [customers] are able to say, 'Hey, this is a great beer. I really enjoy this.' And, you know, this is also going to help support something that's near and dear to my heart, it's kind of a no-brainer."

The label of the beer features a cartoon of Bonney's dog, Magnus, which he said inspired them to support the ARLGP.
