RANGELEY, Maine — A New York couple were injured Friday morning in a crash involving a snowmobile and pickup truck in Rangeley.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Friday, a Kennebec County sheriff's deputy responded to a report of a crash that involved a snowmobile and a pickup truck on Loon Lake Road, the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Dennis Hummel, 68, of East Meadow, New York was reportedly operating a snowmobile on a trail that approaches Loon Lake Road, according to the release.

During that time, 61-year-old Mark Nedeau of Oquossoc was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado on Loon Lake Road. As he was approaching the snowmobile crossing, Hummel allegedly failed to stop at the intersection for an unknown reason, the sheriff's office said.
