First responders were called to Norridgewock Road Monday afternoon.

FAIRFIELD, Maine — A male was fatally injured while he was removing a downed tree in Fairfield during a windstorm Monday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Fairfield Police Department, first responders were called to Norridgewock Road at approximately 3:34 p.m. for a serious injury.

Crews discovered he had been removing a downed tree with a tractor when it fatally struck him, the release said.

Police said the male's identity will not be released until his family is notified.

He is the second person known to have died in Maine during Monday's storm. Around noon, emergency officials responded to a report that a man in Windham had been fatally struck by part of a falling tree while he was working to remove debris from his roof.

Police said 40-year-old Troy Olson died "immediately," according to a news release from the Windham Police Department.
