LEWISTON, Maine — Three pets died in a fire in Lewiston on Tuesday.

It happened shortly after 5 p.m. at an apartment building on Knox Street, the Lewiston Fire Department said in a social media post.

Upon arrival, crews found fire on the first floor of the building. Crews deployed hose lines and initiated an aggressive interior attack while searching the building for occupants, the post stated. Crews had the flames under control within roughly an hour, the fire department said.

Other than the three pets that died, nobody else was injured, and all occupants have been accounted for, according to fire officials.
