Thompson's Point to host Lewiston-Auburn fundraiser

After the mass shooting on Oct. 25 in Lewiston, Thompson's Point will host an event to raise money for the "City of Lewiston's Families and Victims Fund" on Nov. 9.

PORTLAND, Maine — Thompson’s Point in Portland will host a community-wide fundraiser on Nov. 9 to help benefit the city of Lewiston following a fatal mass shooting that occurred just two weeks ago.

“Our beloved friends and family in the Lewiston/Auburn community are facing a difficult time,” Thompson’s Point owner and developer Jed Troubh said in a press release. “As we all know, Maine is about unity, family, tolerance, and togetherness and in that spirit, we extend a heartfelt invitation for you to join us for a night of community.”

Free and open to the public, the event will take place inside Brick South at Thompson’s Point from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"We’ve had such an outpouring from colleagues and partners wanting to help," Charlie Hewitt, a Lewiston-Auburn native and the artist behind the "Hopeful" signage project, said in a release. "We’ve heard from breweries like Bissell, Sacred Profane, Baxter and Mast Landing to so many other folks who have stepped up with donations for the raffle and silent auction to make this event special."

In addition to food and music, guests can enter a raffle and silent auction, which includes items from Hewitt and local artist Ryan Adams, who is donating 100 percent of proceeds from the sale of his "Lewiston Strong" print to the cause.

"Items to be auctioned off range from $50 gift cards to large combination packages in the thousands of dollars and a few live auction items that we are anticipating going for more," a spokesperson for Thompson's Point told NEWS CENTER Maine.

"We hope this event will offer companionship, live music, amazing food, spirited libations, and some great raffle and auction items, while being able to celebrate community and do what we can for the Lewiston community," Thompson’s Point owner and fellow Lewiston-Auburn native Chris Thompson said.

All proceeds will be donated to the City of Lewiston’s Families and Victims Fund.

The event will happen at 15 Resurgam Place at Thompson’s Point on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
