Fundraiser to support Lewiston community includes signed Patriots helmet auction item

Part of the gala is the One Lewiston Resilience Auction, which will feature an authentic football helmet signed by retired wide receiver Julian Edelman.

LEWISTON, Maine — The community and sports fans alike can gather in Lewiston Friday evening for the Healing Arts Gala.

The gala was organized to raise money to support "the long-term economic and community healing" following the Oct. 25 shootings in Lewiston that claimed the lives of 18 people, according to the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (LAMCC).

Part of the gala is the One Lewiston Resilience Auction, which will feature an authentic football helmet signed by retired wide receiver Julian Edelman that the New England Patriots donated.

The auction, organized by Healing Hearts L-A, will donate money raised to the One Lewiston Resiliency Fund.

The starting bid for Edelman's helmet is $400, and the auction itself will be open for a month. It's also online and open to everyone.

The gala will also feature live music, a cash bar, appetizers, a photo booth, and more, the LAMCC website said.

You can dress your best and attend the Healing Hearts Gala at 6 p.m. Friday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn.

Bids for the helmet and two other exclusive auction items will be open until April 29.
