'It was not supposed to be the end': Girlfriend of murdered Bangor man speaks out

On Wednesday January 10th, a Bangor man, Israel Lewis, was found dead in his apartment by his girlfriend, Heather Knight. For the first time Knight is speaking out about who her boyfriend was and how "it was not supposed to be the end".

BANGOR (NEWS CENTER Maine) - A Bangor woman is speaking out for the first time following the murder of her boyfriend, Israel Lewis. Lewis was found dead by his girlfriend Heather Knight in his apartment on 2nd Street in Bangor on January 10th.

Knight and Lewis had been dating for just over two years and had been living together for most of that time when they decided to move apart. They continued their relationship and stayed in contact with one another.

On Sunday, January 7th, Lewis and Knight had breakfast together. That was the last time that Knight would see Lewis.

"It's just senseless. Absolutely senseless," said Knight.

After not hearing from Lewis for a few days Knight went to his apartment on Second Street in Bangor to check on him

"We drove by and I noticed some odd things just pulling up to the building," said Knight. "By Wednesday morning I went over and it was the first time that the building door was locked."

On Wednesday, January 10th Knight discovered Lewis's body after checking up on him and looking in his apartment window. She called immediately called 9-1-1.

"You know you don't realize how strong you are until you have no choice," said Knight.

On Saturday, January 27th, Bangor Police arrested F Daly and charged him with the murder of Israel Lewis. Knight said Lewis did know Daly but were not friends with him.

"It did not make any sense," said Knight. "Israel did not have any worldly possessions. This was a temporary stay for him. Just it was not supposed to be the end."

"I just take it one day at a time right now. And sometimes break it down to minutes at a time," said Knight. "Just to have faith that God is good and the justice system will take care of everything else."

Bangor Police say F Daly is being held at the Penobscot County Jail and is expected to appear in court this week.
