AUGUSTA (NEWS CENTER Maine ) — Loud, competing chants echoed through the State House Hall of Flags in Augusta Thursday as gun control advocates faced off against supporters of gun rights.

Maine students and parents along with the Moms Demand Action group and the Gun Saftey Coalition held signs and chanted "enough is enough".

"We will remember in November," chanted the gun control advocates.

"So will we" responded the gun rights supporters, who say they are advocating for gun rights to keep schools safe, just as the gun control group said it is trying to do by putting limits on guns.

“This is an advocacy day, not a standoff. Be respectful," said on Maine High School student trying to quell shouting between the groups.

The students also called to ban assault weapons, limit high capacity magazines, raise the gun buying age to 21 and dismantle the NRA.
