Court documents: attacker told police she's "not well"

Elizabeth Ellis is expected to make her first court appearance Friday afternoon.
One victim described her attacker as eyes wide and the other said her "eyes were bugging out of her head and she was not acting right.

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- One of the stabbing victims at the Bangor Mall told police the attacker's "eyes were bugging out of her head and she was not acting right," according to court documents released Thursday.

Thirty-four-year-old Elizabeth Ellis is accused of stabbing two females between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. at JCPenney and American Eagle Outfitters Tuesday at the Bangor Mall.

According to court documents, both female victims were stabbed in the back, near the shoulder area. The victim at American Eagle told police it felt like someone "punched her in the shoulder." When she saw her attacker, she told police her "eyes were bugging out of her head and she was not acting right."

The other victim, who was in the bathroom at JCPenney, told police she was washing her hands in the sink, and when she went to pick up her purse on the ground, a woman stabbed her in the back. When she turned around, the victim said the alleged attacker's eyes were wide. The victim told police the woman was wearing a 'coral' top and a silver skirt.

After reviewing surveillance video, police said they found footage of a female wearing a gray skirt and a blue shirt walking out of the JCPenney bathroom at the time of the stabbing. Court documents also stated that the suspect purchased a candle from Yankee Candle before the stabbings. That surveillance video showed her wearing a gray skirt with a gray shirt, and a blue shirt underneath.

Ellis turned herself in to the Farmington Police Department around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon, confessing to stabbing people at the Bangor Mall. Police said Ellis also handed over a folded knife, which appeared to be clean. When police asked Ellis why she stabbed the two victims, she allegedly said, "unprovoked cause I am not well" and that she did not know who she stabbed. Ellis told police she would not say anything else without an attorney.

Ellis is being held on $50,000 and is expected to make her first court appearance Friday afternoon.
