Carmel man dies in Bangor crash

A 36-year-old from Carmel has died following a rollover crash on Outer Hammond Street in Bangor.

BANGOR, Maine — A man from Carmel has died following a rollover crash on Outer Hammond Street in Bangor shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Members of Bangor's police and fire departments responded to a call about a vehicle off the roadway at about 1:30 a.m. in the area of the Ranger Inn. The caller reported that a person was on the ground near the vehicle involved in the crash and said they were unresponsive.

When the emergency officials arrived at the scene, they found that the person identified as 36-year-old Allyn White had died from injuries suffered in the crash, Bangor police spokesperson Jason McAmbley said in a news release.

Early investigation into the crash suggests White was traveling west on Hammond Street when the vehicle he was in went off the road, rolling multiple times. White was ejected in the crash.

Investigators say speed was a factor in the crash, which is being reconstructed by police.
