MACHIAS, Maine — Three people were arrested in Machias Thursday night and charged with selling cocaine.

David Dowling, 44, Angela Ward, 36, both of Machias and Jeffrey Sherrills, 30, of New York were arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail around 9 p.m. on May 16.

The arrests followed an investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency into drugs that were being brought from New York City into Hancock and Washington counties.

MDEA agents recently went undercover and bought drugs at a multi-unit apartment building on Main Street in Machias. On Thursday night, they served a search warrant on that apartment and seized about 64 grams of crack and over $13,000 in cash.

The suspects were all charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine base.

Bail was set for each of them at $250,000 cash.
