Maine musician joins Alan Jackson arena tour

The former 'North of Nashville' musician has been playing for the house band at Alan Jackson's bar.

He was one-half of the Maine musical duo, North of Nashville, which had certainly seen its share of local fame.

The two guys in the band were Andrew Martelle and Jay Basiner. They split up a few years ago when Jay moved to Nashville to pursue his dreams of making it big in country music.

Well, those dreams are getting closer.

One of country's biggest stars, Alan Jackson, owns a bar in Nashville where Jay -- who now performs under the name Jay Bragg -- has spent a lot of time fronting the house band.

That work paid off when Jackson asked Jay Bragg to be the opening act at four of his arena shows this year.

Jay Bragg will open for Alan Jackson in Madison, Wisconsin and Grand Rapids, Michigan in February, and in Oklahoma City and Omaha in April.

So when he's performing in front of 12,000 people in Oklahoma, we'll be able to say, "Hey, I knew that guy when he playing on 207."

Andrew Martelle is also doing fine, still living in Maine and now playing for the Mallett Brothers Band, which tours all over the country.
