Yarmouth man arrested following police foot chase in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — A Yarmouth man is facing charges following a police foot chase Monday afternoon in Portland.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday, police witnessed what they believed was a drug transaction in the area of 55 Portland St., Portland police spokesperson Brad Nadeau said in a release.

Police attempted to stop the subject, and a foot chase ensued.

Nadeau said the foot chase eventually ended in the area of 58 Alder Street, where the man was taken into custody.

Cole Swan, 18, of Yarmouth, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and refusing to submit to arrest/detention, according to the release.

At the time of his arrest, Swan was in possession of two grams of cocaine base and a loaded handgun, Nadeau said.
