Law enforcement at scene of 'active investigation' in Greenbush

The sheriff's office said that although there is a heavy law enforcement presence in the area of Route 2, there is no risk to the public.

GREENBUSH, Maine — Law enforcement officials are at the scene of an "active investigation" Friday evening in Greenbush.

Deputies, investigators, and a special response team with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office responded to execute a search and arrest warrant at about 5:30 p.m. on Route 2 in Greenbush, the sheriff's office said in a release.

The sheriff's office said that although there is a heavy law enforcement presence in the area, there is no risk to the public.

"An appropriate level of resources have been utilized to reduce impact or risk to the community," the release said.

Deputies said the incident and investigation remain active, but no further details can be shared at this time.

"This message serves as a notice only, law enforcement are in the area and any risk to the public has been quickly addressed," the release stated.

No further details were immediately available.
