After an investigation spanning several months, the 37-year-old Clinton man was arrested on charges of sexual assault of a minor under 12 years old.

CLINTON, Maine — A 37-year-old man from Clinton was arrested Friday on charges of gross sexual assault of a minor after an investigation over several months.

The investigation reportedly resulted in a grand jury indictment earlier this week.

According to a news release from the Clinton Police Department, a search warrant was issued Friday for Christopher Connors, 37, of Clinton for alleged gross sexual assault of a minor under 12 years old.

Police said the search warrant was served at Connors' home on Saturday. He was reportedly taken into custody without incident after initially refusing to answer the door.

Connors is now being held at the Kennebec County Jail on $100,000 bail and faces charges of gross sexual assault of a minor, Class A.

Clinton police were assisted by the Waterville Police Department, the Fairfield Police Department, and the Maine State Police Crime Lab.

The investigation was led by Clinton Police Sergeant Roger Smith, and the Clinton Police Department received invaluable support from the Waterville Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, and the Maine State Police Crime Lab throughout this case.
