PHIPPSBURG, Maine — U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King say they hope the release of additional visas for summer workers will help businesses that were squeezed over the past two summers.
The Department of Homeland Security announced Friday that an additional 30,000 H-2B temporary visas will be made available to employers across the country to fill seasonal jobs. That's double the number of additional visas allotted in the past two years.

King and Collins led a group of 11 bipartisan Senators in writing to DHS Secretary Nielsen, urging her to release these visas to allow Maine small businesses.
Greg Dugal, director of Government Affairs for the Maine Hospitality Association, said the increase in the cap on visas will be helpful for Maine businesses this year.
