AUGUSTA, Maine — For dog fans, it’s hard not to fall in love with a puppy. Those big eyes and their adventurous spirit can bring out the kid in all of us.

Kobe is a 4-month-old Cain Corso/Pit mix ready for a home.

Melanie Randall with the Kennebec Valley Humane Society introduced us to Kobe. He’s available for adoption starting April 16.

An important reminder though if you’re considering introducing a puppy into your life. They’re a lot of work. Dedicating time to training a puppy early is key to following commands and obedience as your dog grows.

There’s a lot happening at the new Nancy Shuman Shelter including a Pet Food Pantry to keep more people and their pets in their homes.

And if you’re looking forward to Summer like the rest of us, there’s a fundraising event set for June 2 called ‘Tails and Tunes’ which is billed as a dog and family-friendly festival.
