Lillian Nordica was a Farmington-born singer who became the world's leading diva. An operatic talent extraordinaire, she graced stages all over the world, singing in four languages and maintaining friendships with Queen Victoria, The Empress of Japan and Thomas Edison.

FARMINGTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Lillian Nordica was born in Farmington. The family faced poverty and moved to Boston for more opportunity when Lillian was just eight. She became an extraordinary singer and one of the world's first stars.

She traveled the world singing to packed houses in the world's greatest opera houses.

She was also one of the first to endorse products. One of her most famous endorsements was Coca-Cola. Products bearing her likeness are sought by collectors to this day.

Lillian Nordica's home on Holley Road in Farmington is a museum. It is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day and still contains a fascinating collection of memorabilia from her remarkable career.
