34-year-old dies in camper fire in Hancock County

A body was recovered from a camper trailer after officials responded to a call Thursday morning about a fire in Mariaville.

MARIAVILLE, Maine — A body was recovered from a camper trailer after officials responded to a call early Thursday morning about a fire in Mariaville.

Crews with the Mariaville Fire Department responded to a call at about 5:30 a.m. about a fire involving a camper trailer on Freedom Ridge Road, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.

The camper had recently been put on the property by the property owner and was reportedly being occupied by 34-year-old Tyler Anderson, the release stated.

Remains believed to be Anderson were recovered from the camper and were sent to the chief medical examiner's office for DNA testing to confirm identity, Moss said.

The fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal's office.

However, early investigation findings suggest there is no indication of foul play, Moss said.
