Yes, it's still winter; snowy Sunday on the way | Breton Blog

Another round of snow is on the way, and this time much of it will fall during the daytime hours of Sunday.

Mostly snow will fall inland, but eventually the snow will change to sleet and rain near the coast.

Snow will begin in western Maine between 7 and 9 AM Sunday. It will be dry through much of the morning in eastern Maine.

The snow intensity should increase quickly. Roads will become snow-covered and slippery with bursts of moderate to briefly heavy snow.

Snow will begin in central Maine between 9 AM and noon. Snow will start in the Greater Bangor area around noon.

Snow will continue through the afternoon.

Milder air will move in aloft, changing the snow to sleet and rain in much of York County, especially near the coast. This area of mixed precipitation will move northward along the coast, while it continues to snow inland and in the mountains.

Most of the accumulation will be over by late afternoon in western Maine, early evening in eastern Maine.

The precipitation will lighten up, ending as rain near the coast and sleet or freezing rain inland.

Travel conditions should improve as the crews get to work and the precipitation lightens up.

Expected totals haven't changed much. Expect 2 to 4 inches near the coast, 4 to 6 inches inland. Some of the mountains may see closer to 8 inches.

It will be a wetter snow near the coast and fluffier inland.

This is long gone by Monday morning, so everything should be cleaned up before the commute.
