UPDATE: Identity revealed of victim in fatal Lewiston hit and run

Police in Lewiston are searching for the driver of a white SUV after one man died following a hit and run.

UPDATE: Lewiston police on Monday identified the man who was killed in Sunday's hit-and-run crash as 48-year-old Louie J. St. Pierre of Lewiston. No arrest has been made in the case. To help with their investigation, police reiterated their request for information from anyone who may know something about the driver or car that hit St. Pierre.

LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police in Lewiston are searching for the driver of a white SUV after one man died following a hit and run.

Police says officers were dispatched to Pleasant Street in Lewiston around 2:30 Sunday morning after receiving a call about a male subject lying in the travel lane. In a press release, Lewiston Police say that "prior to the officers arrival a vehicle struck this male."

The victim was transported to Central Maine Medical Center where he later died from sustained injuries.

A witness has described seeing a white SUV hitting the male and then leaving the scene of the accident.

Police will not release the victim's identity pending the family's notification.
